Investing in Russia’s fast emerging economy often seems a good idea for foreign businessmen, who beckoned by high profits put money in steel works, oil-processing plants and other fields. Here is the list of leading Russian finance companies, which can make investing process in Russia easier.

Troika Dialog

Russian Stock market’s history, short but eventful, has been made by several financial companies including Troika Dialog, the oldest and largest private investment bank in the CIS. For many years the company has been a market leader in investment banking, asset management, alternative investments and capital markets.

Troika Dialog was founded in 1991 by Peter Derby, an American of Russian descent, standing for the idea of separating banking business and capital markets business.

Troika Dialog is the leading market-maker for equity and fixed income products in Russia and a major market-maker on the main Russian exchanges (RTS and MICEX), as well as in the OTC market in Moscow and the ADR and GDR markets in London, Frankfurt and New York.

The company employs over 1460 workers in over 40 offices across Russia and in five other countries.

Troika Dialog's product range is arguably the largest on the Russian asset management market. Apart from 12 open-ended and two interval mutual funds, the company offers its clients a closed-end real estate fund, a hedge fund, and a tool which is new to the Russian market – a CDO referencing a portfolio of Russian issuers' bonds. In addition, it applies 14 investment strategies, ranging from the conservative strategy (i.e. investment in bonds) to investment in small capitalization companies, real estate and innovative research.

Finam

Finam is the name of an investment company and an investment bank. In 2007 Finam was recognized as one of the leading brokerage companies in Russia. According to RBC-rating of the first half of 2008, Finam is the undisputed leader by turnover rate among Russian investment companies. Having the biggest regional network Finam offers its services in 89 cities of the Russian Federation.

Finam Investment Company was established in 1994 to provide stock market services in Russia. Finam’s services vary from the option to invest funds into stock market instruments and asset management to the comprehensive support of transactions to buy and sell businesses and capital operations (IPO, private offerings, etc.). The holding pursues an intensive direct investment policy, spending funds on the purchase of high-tech projects. The first mutual fund in Russia for investments in high-tech companies (Finam – Information Technologies) was formed within the holding.

The company is a member of RTS Stock Exchange, the stock section of the Moscow Inter-Bank Currency Exchange (MICEX), the Moscow Stock Exchange (MSE) and the Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange.

The company has been a full member of the National Association of the Stock Market Participants (NAUFOR) since May 22, 1997.

Investment Holding Finam comprises several subdivisions besides the investment company and commercial bank: Finam Asset Management (mutual funds, Russia), news agency Finam.ru (Russia), insurance broker Finam Insurance (Russia), Training Center Finam (Russia), and also a number of assets in various sectors of the national economy, primarily in the high-tech industry.
