The Foreign Ministry’s Mansion opened its doors on Friday to the representatives of the regional government, local and foreign companies who demonstrated their case studies to prove the oil and gas-rich place can offer a competitive environment to any industry.

Tyumen governor Vladimir Yakushev has brought along senior executives from the world’s leading companies operating there Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Schattdecor. And their success stories are just the tip of the iceberg.
According to Yakushev, the region’s budget has been balanced out, with industries like agriculture and metallurgy contributing on par with its traditional fossil fuel sector.
A total of 40 major investment projects worth 900 billion roubles, or $30 billion, are currently underway, with the pace of economic growth of 13 percent exceeding Russia’s average figures. The Tyumen Region has reached the top 3 Russian constituencies in terms of the industrial production index, after it almost doubled in the last five years.
The average monthly salary amounts to $1,000, which is quite high by Russian standards, and according to the state pollster VTsIOM, Tyumen is top 3 of Russia’s happiest cities.
