American GE Signed New Agreements With Russian Companies

The American General Electric GE Corporation has signed a number of agreements with Russian companies, including “Rosneft”, “Rosseti” and “Transmashkholding”, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

The agreements provide for the implementation of projects aimed at the solution of infrastructural problems of the Russian Federation in the oil and gas industry, power engineering, transport machine-building and health care, according to the message. In particular, GE, and “Itera” Oil and Gas Company (a 100 percent subsidiary of “Rosneft”) will assess opportunities for cooperation in the field of natural gas processing with the use of GE technologies for the production of light liquefied natural gas (LNG). GE also intends to develop technological cooperation with “Rosneft” itself within the frame of a joint research centre. In addition, GE, and “Rosneft” agreed to cooperate in the field of localization of technology and production of electric propulsion systems for ships of the civil marine fleet of “Rosneft” and other Russian customers.

According to the message, these initiatives are a part of the previously announced general plan of GE to invest one billion dollars in the oil and gas sector of the Russian Federation up to 2020. Under the agreement of GE and “Rosseti” the parties will explore the partnership opportunities for joint projects implementation with the use of high-tech electrical equipment of GE for modernization of the power grid complex of the Russian Federation. Under the previously concluded agreement GE and “Transmashkholding” (TMK) announced a joint project providing for localization of manufacture, assembly and service of diesel engines of GE on the basis of TMK Company in Penza. The engines are meant for equipping locomotives, ships of the civil marine fleet, as well as for use at industrial facilities of the Russian Federation.

The number of participants of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) this year amounted to 10 thousand people. This was announced by Adviser to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov at the final press conference of the SPIEF, RIA Novosti reported. He also said that more than 150 events were held; among them are forums of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS. Besides, 2,000 journalists (two times more than in 2014) were registered in SPIEF-2015. Earlier in his speech Anton Kobyakov said that the forum was attended by representatives of 120 countries. Totally 205 agreements, memorandums and contracts were signed worth 293.4 billion rubles. 

The cost of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) amounted to 1.2 billion roubles. The fact was announced by the Advisor to the President, the Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov, according to TASS. “The Forum was organized by business. And the state money (spent on the forum – the commentary of “Lenta. Ru”) made up only 3 percent, which is 40 million roubles” - he explained. At the same time the expenditures on SPIEF-2015 did not exceed last year’s expenditures.
