September 8, 2015 09:43

“KamAZ” (a part of the “Rostech” state corporation) and the Chinese “Hawtai Motor Group Co.”, Beijing, have signed a framework agreement on the establishment of a joint venture (JV) for the production and sales of “KamAZ” trucks in China and Hawtai motor cars in Russia.

This is stated in the message of the Russian company. The production of motor cars under the Hawtai brand will be organized in Russia on the premises of “KamAZ”. In order to produce Russian trucks in China, it is planned to build a new plant in Tianjin.

The sales will be carried out by using the advantages of each other’s distribution networks, as the message notes. “KamAZ” will add its capacities in Russia, its truck production technologies and managerial resources to the charter capital of the joint venture.

Hawtai Motor Group Co, in its turn, will provide the joint venture with technologies, engineering developments and its knowledge in the production of passenger cars. According to the General Director of “KamAZ” Sergey Kogogin, the agreement is aimed at the support of the Russian automaker’s long-term strategy to diversify the sales and to develop new fast-growing markets.

He noted that the goal of “KamAZ” was to sell up to 50 thousand cars per year on the Chinese market. “Using the advantages of “KamAZ” in the cargo sector and our technologies in the production of motor cars, Hawtai Motor Group Co. will expand its business in the passenger sector in Russia. Both companies will benefit from this cooperation” - the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hawtai Motor Group Co. Zhang Xu Gen stated.
