The ranking of the 200 largest private companies in the country is headed by the “Lukoil” oil company which revenue under US GAAP amounted to 4.75 trillion roubles in 2014.
The ranking was made by Russian Forbes. “Lukoil” occupies the first place among private oil and gas companies in terms of proven oil reserves (1 percent of the world hydrocarbon reserves) and the second place – in terms of production (more than 2 percent of world production).
The second place in the ranking belongs to one of the largest Russian oil and gas companies “Surgutneftegas” with the revenue according to IFRS amounting to 890.6 billion roubles in 2014. According to the newspaper, “Surgutneftegaz” which is the most closed and conservative company in the Russian oil and gas industry is the third largest producer in Russia (61.4 million tons). It accounts for about 12 percent of oil production volumes and about 7 percent of processing volumes.
The top three is closed by the largest chain of stores “Magnit”, its revenues increased by 31.71 percent in 2014 - up to 763.5 billion roubles. The largest foreign company operating in Russia was the French “Auchan”. Its revenue in Russia increased by 19 percent in 2014 – up to 372 billion roubles. Forbes has been compiling the ranking of the 200 largest private companies of Russia since 2013. The ranking includes the companies with the capital where less than 50 percent are owned by state or foreign investors.
