Petrol production reached 38.9 million tons in 2015, which is 1.6 percent more than last year. According to “Interfax”, this was reported by the Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak on Thursday, December 24. The official said that the volume of petrol of the fifth class (“Euro-5”) grew by 9.9 percent - up to 31.2 million tons.
Production of diesel fuel decreased by 2.2 percent in 2015 – down to 75.6 million tons, but the production of the fifth class of diesel fuel will rise by 20 percent – up to 54.1 million tons. Earlier, on December 24, it was reported with a reference of Novak’s words that oil production in Russia would reach the record 533.6 million tons in 2015, which would be 1.3 percent higher than the indices of the previous year.
On December 18 “Rosneft” published a release which said about the transition of the company’s oil processing plants to the production of petrol and diesel fuel only of the “Euro-5” class. It was also reported that in 2016 the factories would produce over 10 million tons of gasoline and nearly 16 million tons of diesel fuel of the “Euro-5” class, without taking into account the production volume of “Slavneft” oil and gas company. According to the technical regulations of the Customs Union, in 2016 all Russian oil processing plants should pass to production only of the “Euro-5” class fuel.
However, this autumn the government decided to extend it for six months - until July 1, 2016 - the turnover period of the Class 4 (“Euro-4”) petrol. According to the Energy Ministry, Russia currently consumes about 28 million tons of “Euro-5” petrol annually.
