The alliance of “Nordavia” and “Red Wings” airline companies intends to develop a model of low-cost transportation. This was reported by the top managers of the two companies at a briefing in Murmansk, as the correspondent of “Lenta.ru” reports.
The development model of “Nordavia” in the low-budget segment is chosen by the shareholders deliberately, as its General Director Vladimir Gorbunov said. According to him, the airline company claims to become the only competitor to the only modern low-coster – “Pobeda”.
“Passenger traffic of the existing network of “Nordavia” does not allow us to fully develop as a low-cost carrier. The model contained in the business plan says that we need to compete [with “Pobeda”] and to be the second player in low-cost segment” - he said. Gorbunov specified to “Lenta.ru” that the launch of a full-fledged low-coster model was scheduled for spring of 2017. According to the top manager, for this purpose the fleet of “Nordavia” needs additional Airbus A320 liners. He did not say how many aircrafts the company planned to buy, noting that they spoke not about “one or two planes, but a much larger number”.
The Head of Red Wings said that “Nordavia” had already received over 12 new routes, including 5-6 daily ones, alongside with traffic on conventional destinations. In June Vladimir Gorbunov was appointed the CEO of “Nordavia”; earlier he headed such low-costers as “Avianova” and “Dobrolet”.
