The Share Of Domestic Medical Products In the Russian Market Reached 20 Percent

The share of Russian medicines in the segment of VEM (vital and essential medicines) is 83 percent. By the end of next year it is planned to reach the figure of 90 percent. This was announced at the BIOTECHMED Conference by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov.

According to him, the share of domestic medical products in the Russian market reached 20 percent (in 2012 it was 13 percent). The share of medicines, made in Russia, is 32 percent, in physical terms it is 69 percent. The Minister specified that this level has been achieved in all major medicine segments.

At the same time, the Russian market remained open to foreign producers. According to the Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, foreign pharmaceutical companies built seven plants, and 78 foreign holdings localized their production output at Russian factories.
