Nornickel took the second place in the rating of environmental activities of Russian companies in the fuel and energy and metallurgical sectors, represented by the Living Planet TV channel and the Institute of Modern Media (MOMRI) according to the data for the first half of 2017.
Totally 33 companies appear on the list. The rating is headed by Gazprom, but its leadership is not as unconditional as it was in previous periods - almost three more companies are on the same level: Nornickel, Rosseti and Rusal.
Overall, there were quite significant changes in the top-10 rating, although 8 of 10 participants of the previous dozen leaders retained their positions. Most companies significantly, sometimes at times, increased their index. The results of the rating show that environmental and ecological activities have ceased to be something one-off and short-term for representatives of Russian business, and are perceived by largest companies and by Mass Media as strategic activity.
It is noted that a significant impact on the rating results was due to the fact that the year 2017 was declared as the Year of Ecology.
