Rosneft intends to sign an agreement with the authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan on financing the expansion of the gas pipeline infrastructure by the end of this year.
The project involves the commissioning of pipeline and the first gas supplies to domestic consumers in 2019, and starting in 2020, the beginning of export supplies of energy.
"The Kurdistan regional gas pipeline will not only provide natural gas supplies to power plants and factories in the region, but will also provide an opportunity to export a significant amount of fuel to Turkey and the European market in the coming years," it is noted in the release. Investments in the project will be carried out according to the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) scheme: construction, ownership, operation and transfer. The investments should pay off due to tariff charges and an agreed rate of return.
It is assumed that the throughput capacity of the pipeline will provide the export of 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually in addition to the supplies to the main domestic consumers.
