The export of capital from Russia by private sector companies in 2017 amounted to $ 31.3 billion. This is told in the report of the Bank of Russia.
For comparison, in 2016 the outflow amounted to 19.8 billion US dollars. During the year this indicator grew by about 60 percent. The main source of net capital export was banking sector operations to reduce external liabilities. Capital flows associated with the operations of other sectors were generally mutually compensating.
According to the forecast of the Central Bank, the outflow of capital in the coming year will be about 16 billion US dollars. In 2019-2020, it will be reduced to 8-9 billion US dollars. As a result of past year, the account of current transactions was positive and amounted to 40.2 billion US dollars. In 2016, it was 25 billion US dollars. Net exports of goods notably increased. According to calculations by the Ministry of Economic Development, the inflow of capital to Russia will not be recovered until 2023.
