A draft law on counter-sanctions may lead to an increase in prices in stores. This has been reported by the Rambler News Service with reference to the representative of the Association of Retailers (ACORT) Roman Chernigovtsev.
“The law draft may have a negative impact on retail prices, primarily due to an increase of the costs of trade for toughening control measures within the trading companies themselves and due to the additional costs of risk management because of potential sanction fines”, he explained.
According to Chernigovtsev, ACORT is concerned about and worried by the approach shown by the Russian authorities. The draft law on counter-sanctions will have a negative impact on trade in general, he assures. The representative of the association stressed that before the introduction of such measures it is necessary to evaluate their impact on the market. ACORT includes the largest retail market holding company - X5 Retail Group.
