Russian businessmen entered the top 5 in terms of wealth growth in the world ranking. This is evidenced by the Forbes Real Time rating data. It tracks the change in capital of the richest people on the planet and is updated in real time.
The rating reflects changes compared to the previous day of exchange trading, that is, today it is calculated relative to Friday September 13th.
During this time, the capital of the co-owner of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov grew by $ 519 million to $ 21.6 billion. He took second place in the top businessmen with the fastest growing fortune.
The second place is taken by the co-owner of Novatek Leonid Mikhelson, the third – by the co-owner of Sibur Gennady Timchenko. Michelson’s fortune increased by $ 410 million and now amounts to $ 26.6 billion. Timchenko’s capital increased by $ 389 million to $ 22.5 billion.
The first place in the ranking was taken by the head of the American oil company Continental Resources Harold Hamm. His fortune has grown by $ 1.3 billion since Friday. Moreover, his entire capital is less than that of Alikperov, Mikhelson and Timchenko and amounts to $ 10.7 billion.
The growth of capital of Russian billionaires occurs amid rising global oil prices. At 18:00 Moscow time, a barrel of Brent crude was worth $ 67.05. This is 11.3% higher than the closing level of previous trading.
Oil is getting more expensive after the Saturday drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s largest oil facility, allegedly carried out by Hussite Yemeni rebels. The largest oil disruption in history occurred due to the attack.
