Yandex is investing more than 200 million rubles in creating a platform for distance learning. This was reported to Forbes by the press service of the Yandex.Tutorial educational service. In March, the platform will be available free of charge throughout Russia.
The project will combine the tools for conducting interactive video broadcasts of classes and class communication with the teacher, as well as video lessons from teachers in all subjects, Yandex.Tutorial reports. Teachers will be able to use the platform to check homework and receive feedback from students through chats or via voice messages. The first version of the platform will be launched in Moscow together with the Moscow government and the Center for Pedagogical Excellence.
In addition, from April 1, Yandex will launch a “full-fledged online school for grades 5-11”. The network of classes and the teaching staff is formed by experts in the field of developing materials for state examinations of the Unified State Examination and the Unified State Examination, as well as "leading teachers of Moscow schools," the press service said. Broadcasts will be conducted “during school hours to preserve the usual routines of children and parents”, and “entertaining and educational videos” are provided for changes. For students of the ninth and eleventh grades, teachers-compilers of exams will conduct broadcasts of seminars to prepare for state exams.
“In this situation, we want to help parents, teachers and students who are faced with the need to switch to distance learning. Our main task is to keep the educational process as familiar and convenient as possible for all participants,” Elena Bunina, CEO of Yandex in Russia said. The company expects its services to "be able to help at least 5 million schoolchildren continue their studies."
Yandex has been creating and implementing educational programs for 13 years, as stated in the press release of Yandex.Tutorial. Now the company has more than 30 educational projects and services aimed at people of different ages - both schoolchildren and specialists or professionals who decided to change the scope of activity. More than 1.5 million children are now studying through Yandex.Tutorial. The volume of Yandex investments in educational projects in 2020-2022 will amount to more than 5 billion rubles.
