Lurkmore Is Blocked
March 11, 2015 01:05

The Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications began to lock the pages of the online encyclopedia “Lurkmore” with forbidden information, according to the account of the agency at “VKontakte”.

The decision was made at the request of the Federal Drug Control Service. “The term given to remove the forbidden information from the website of Lurkmore has expired this weekend”. The Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications proceeds to locking certain pages on the website devoted to drugs and pedophilia” - the statement said.

The agency notes that communications providers will have to completely restrict access to the website, since the individual links that are included into the register of Roskomnadzor work by an encrypted https protocol. Lurkmore has already been included into the register of forbidden websites before. In December 2014 the regulator included all five web pages devoted to drugs into the black list. Lurkmore removed these pages, then the agency excluded the resource from the register. In November 2012 the website was in the list again due to the articles “Pipe” and “Cannabis. Ways of use” that were qualified as promotion of drugs by the Federal Drug Control Service.

After the articles have been removed the IP-address of Lurkmore was removed from the register of Roskomnadzor. Lurkmore calls itself an encyclopedia of contemporary culture, folklore and subcultures. The articles of the resource are generated by users and are devoted to description of the terms and characters popular on the Internet. The website has been working since 2007.
