The US Government Agencies Accuse the “Russian Hackers” Of Data Theft
May 30, 2015 00:15

The Internal Revenue Service of the USA suspects the Russian hackers of embezzling 100 thousand records of personal data of taxpayers from the computer system, as CNN reported referring to sources.

The department of the agency for countering criminal offenses is conducting an investigation of cyber attacks, during which the criminals have been stealing information through the online application of IRS for four months. Meanwhile, IRS officials gave no comment on the nationality of hackers at the press conference held last Tuesday, on May 26, as Reuters reports.

The Financial Committee of the Senate overseeing the IRS said that it would hold hearings on the data theft on Tuesday, June 2. The US government agencies accuse the “Russian hackers” of the theft of data not for the first time. Previously, according to officials, they allegedly attempted to obtain confidential information relating to sanctions.

In addition, CNN told about the alleged Russian hackers breaking into cyber systems of the White House and State Department in early April. The Kremlin laughed at the statements about hackers allegedly working for the Russian government. The spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, explained the report by the habit of CNN to blame everything on Moscow.
