New Kind of Online Fraud Appeared in Russia
May 13, 2018 23:16

The experts of the anti-virus company Doctor Web informed about the new kind of fraud in the Internet - cybercriminals steal money from the people seeking social compensations. Scammers send SMS, e-mail messages and instant messengers with information about the possibility to receive the compensation for unused utilities and medical services or compulsory insurance services, and they also attach a link leading to the site.

All such sites are created using the same template and belong to some "Centers for compensation of unused medical services", "Unions of independent energy companies" and other non-existent organizations, warns Doctor Web. To receive the promised compensation, the site visitors are asked to enter the last digits of any document in the special form, as well as their first and last name. As a result, the information on the available payment will appear on the screen, for which it is required to transfer a small amount of money allegedly to the scammers for the services of the platform provided.
