The year 2013 gives us much to expect in the field of artistic events.
Some of them are regular - for example, in spring the next Festival "Fashion and Style in Photography" will be held, and in the fall the 5th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art will open (the outlines of the event so far are vague, we only know that the curator of the Biennale is Catherine de Seeger from Belgium and that the main project will be located in the "Manezh”).
The events of another kind involve important museum exhibitions – there will be no lack of them. For example, the Pushkin Museum announces the touring exhibition from Peru "1000 years of Inca Gold" in March, and in June - a big exhibition "Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian avant-garde" from the Tate Gallery and other British collections.
The main events of the Tretyakov Gallery are going to be the personal exhibitions of Mikhail Nesterov in April (150th anniversary of the famous artist is coming) and Piet Mondrian in September - a retrospective of the great abstractionist is included into the program of the Year of Russia in Holland and of Holland in Russia.
In February Multimedia Art Museum will bring the major exhibition of art of European modernism from Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany - it will be called "Our century acquires a sense of form".
The Historical Museum is planning to put the emphasis on local materials: in January the exhibition "Children's costume in XVIII-XX centuries" will be open and in March an exhibition marathon will be launched dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty – the exhibitions "The Romanovs. The beginning of the Dynasty " and " The Romanovs. The Portrait of the Dynasty” are prepared for the anniversary.
