VI festival “The Imperial gardens of Russia” will take place from the 7-th till the 16-th of June 2013 in Mikhailovskiy garden of the Russian museum. The festival of 2013 will be timed with the whole number of commemorative dates and events. They include 400-year anniversary of Romanov Residence, 155-year anniversary of the Russian imperial unity of gardeners and the Year of the environment protection.

The slogan of the VI festival sounds as “Plantomania”. It is connected with the hobby of Catherine the Great, who was interested in gardening. Especially she was interested in achievements of British gardeners.

The participants of the festival – landscape designers – will be offered to fantasize and create compositions of the following themes. The First nomination is “Monarch gardens”, divided in several parts: “Gala gardens”; “Imperial and king unities of gardeners”; “The empress own gardens and yards”; “Winter gardens and hothouses”.

The second nomination  is “The shelter embraced by the light of muses…”. It is dedicated to the world of Russian and English residences, Italian villas, French castles, where their own geniuses where brought up – Pushkin, Tolstoy, Clod Mone.

The third nomination is “Beauty will save the world”,  dedicated to ecology and saving of green areas, which are sacrificed to building corporations especially in Saint-Petersburg for the last time. It is divided for the following parts: ecological gardens; rain gardens; green roofs; technologies of the 21-st century.

The theme “On one level with the century” will be out of the event frames. It is divided on two parts: “Famous exhibitions of flowers and landscape art of the whole world” and “Haute couture gardens”. Replicas of the projects from the worldwide flowers exhibition and landscape design, and also projects of famous landscape architectures, who have already won fame among specialists will be shown in this theme.
