From 12 to 22 September, 2013 Moscow Photographic Salon will take place in the Gallery of Classical Photography. It is the only event in Russia that each year brings together all players of photographic market such as galleries, foundations and private collections. This Salon is a Russian equivalent of the world's largest photographic fairs. Masterpieces of world photography from the largest Russian collections will be displayed in the same location.
The Salon will exhibit works of greatest photographers of 19th century: of Roger Fenton, Queen Victoria’s personal photographer and of Louis-Emile Durandelle, who witnessed times of old fashioned Paris. Photographic 20th century is represented by such figures as Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ralph Gibson and Flor Garduno.
The pictures of one of the most expensive photographers in the world Ansel Adams and a few vintage prints of Julia Margaret Cameron will be demonstrated on separate exposition.
The ones who deserve much attention in the list of contemporary domestic authors are Alexander Gronskiy, Garik Pinkhassov and such classics as Alexander Rodchenko and Boris Smelov.
Among stars of the modern Western photo to be shown are Ralph Caspers, Erik Hijweege, Claudia Rogge, Joel Meyerowitz, Nick Veasey and others.
Moscow Photographic Salon is a specialized professional event and public photographic exhibition at the same time. There is no secret that for the last decade lots of photographic masterpieces of different epochs have been transferred from Western galleries and auctions to Russia. The Salon is a great opportunity for both professionals and ordinary viewers to see these unique prints in "live".
Moscow Photographic Salon will be held in two phases. Russian and foreign galleries, foundations and collectors will show their collections from September 12 to 15. Indi photographers from all over Russia will present themselves to the public the second, more democratic week from 19 to 22 September.
