Best domestic cartoons of 2013, marked on the open festival of animated films in Suzdal, will be shown in cinemas during the Day of Russian Animation, as it was reported at the Association of Animated Films, which organizes the event.
The festival that includes the best animated movies for children and adults is called The Spring of Russian Animation. The cartoons will be shown in 300 theaters across Russia. The shows will be free of charge and will take place almost everywhere in Russia, from Kaliningrad to the Far East, from Sochi to Murmansk.
As the association informed, among the regions, where the shows will be held are Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Tula, Vladimir, Smolensk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk oblsts, Buryatia, Yakutia, Chuvashia, Stavropol Krai and many others. “The large-scale campaign will run until May 18. According to organizers, most of the films can be viewed only in the Spring of Russian Animation. They can be seen neither on television, nor on the Internet. This is a rare opportunity for the audience to deepen themselves in the world of beautiful, fascinating and clever cartoons. We invite all who are interested in the festival cinema with deep overtones and subtle humor," organizers said.
Russian animation day is celebrated in the country for the third time. The date is associated with the first Russian animated movie "Beautiful Lukanida or the war of the Horned and the Whiskered" directed by Vladislav Starevich, shown to the large audience on April 8, 1912. The centenary jubilee of domestic animation was celebrated in 2012 and it was decided then to make it an annual celebration.
