Moscow will for the first time present its own exposition at the XIV Architecture Biennale, which will be held in Venice from June 7 to November 23, as the Moscow's chief architect and the project curator Sergei Kuznetsov told to RIA Novosti at the press conference on Monday.
According to him, the exhibition titled “Moscow: the Space of the City” is aimed at showing the architectural retrospective of the capital over the last century and identifying the city’s future, at that, the emphasis of the project is put on people and the space of their habitat.
“We are not going to disclose what will be inside, let it be a surprise” - Kuznetsov said. At the same time the chief architect reported that the exhibition will present the elements relating to Zaryadye park. The RDI Group President and the commissioner of the exposition Dmitry Aksenov explained the purpose of his participation in the project this way: “To help Moscow to tell the world about itself”.
He said that being a developer he often has to face the need to implement the ideas associated with the development of the urban environment, and this event is a great chance to use his experience and the European context, to work jointly with the Moscow authorities and to show the place of the city in global architectural environment to the whole world.
In fact, it is a bright example of public-private partnership, Kuznetsov stressed. As the architectural critic and expert Elena Gonzalez noted, a situation where the conductor of architectural ideology is not a private individual, but the state, happened for the first time; and a private person performs the part of the project commissioner.
