Russia Takes Part In China International Cartoon And Animation Festival

China’s largest “animation city” is located in Hangzhou – it is an industrial park including educational infrastructure, production facilities and many things more. The Russian delegation consisting of more than twenty representatives of the animation industry will go to the X Chinese International Festival of Cartoons and Animation CICAF (China International Cartoon and Animation Festival) which will be held from April 28 to May 3 in Hangzhou, as a spokeswoman of the press-service of the Animated Film Association (AFA) reports.

The largest animation event in the Asian region CIFAF has been held annually since 2004. China’s largest “animation city” is located in Hangzhou – it is an industrial park including educational infrastructure, production facilities and many things more.

“Russia will be the guest of the X Chinese International Festival of Cartoons and Animation CICAF. Therefore, the largest centre of Chinese animation invited the representative delegation from Russia” - the interlocutor of the agency said. According to her, the delegation included more than 20 representatives of local animation studios, production centers, distribution companies. These are, in particular, “Animakkord”, “Bazelevs”, “Melnitsa”, "Ricky" and others.

Russian animation will be given a separate stand where the representatives of Russian companies will be able to conduct business meetings and sign contracts. In addition a conference is scheduled concerning the prospects of cooperation between Russia and China in the field of animation; a business visit to one of the central animation technology parks in China is also planned. According to the director of AFA Irina Mastusova quoted by the press service, the upcoming trip is very important for Russian producers.

“Asia in general and China in particular is a very promising direction. We have a lot to learn here, because China has a very clear strategy for developing its own animation and invests huge amounts of money into it. We will get acquainted with the latest technologies in the field of animation production here, we will be able agree on collaboration with local studios” - Mastusova concluded.
