Multimedia Exhibition Performance "I Am Aivazovsky" in ARTPLAY
September 21, 2016 22:35

The premiere of the multimedia exhibition performance is timed to the 200th anniversary since the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky. The project creators are known for the two large-scale exhibitions in Moscow: Michelangelo. The World Creation and Bosch. The Visions Enlivened.
The multimedia space of ARTPLAY Design Centre in Moscow is dedicated to canvasses by Ivan Aivazovsky and other marine painters. The new project combines sophisticated theatrical drama and peculiarities of multimedia expositions.
The role of Ivan Aivazovsky is played by Sergey Garmash and tells about the life of a boy, the future great artist. The hero has a dialogue with actress Lyanka Gryu. The plot is based on the artist's biography, documentary materials and correspondence, as well as his contemporaries' memoirs. The most important events of that era are presented in the format of television news.
The paintings by Ivan Aivazovsky are so well-known and popular that they outshine their creator's personality, which is somewhat forgotten. The project authors have tried to imagine the artist telling about his own life and creativity. The stage production highlights an interesting person absorbed by his favourite work rather than his canvasses.
The video performance runs repeatedly in cycles from 11 am to 9 pm, with every cycle lasting for one hour.
The multimedia performance exhibition I am Aivazovsky is held in the ARTPLAY Design Centre from September 8 till December 8, 2016.
The address of Artplay: 10, Nizhnyaya Syromyatnicheskaya Street, next to Kurskaya and Chkalovskaya metro statons, Moscow.
