The ‘Window to Europe’ film festival was hold in Vyborg.
The ‘Window to Europe’ film festival took place in Vyborg between August 8 and 15. The opening film was “Ded 005” directed by Mger Mkrtchyan and Arkadiy Grigoryan. The motto of this festival is “Tomorrow's Forecast”.
As usual viewers were offered three different competitive categories – feature film, documentary and animation. The feature-film jury was headed up by Sergei Shakurov, the People's Artist of the RSFSR. 13 movies, 6 of which were debuting, competed for festivals main program prize.
“Deliverance” by Sergey Kuznetsov, “LJ” by Alexander Stroyev, “Winter Path” by Sergey Tarmayev and Liubov Lvova, “Lyakh (Butterfly)” by Vyacheslav Semyonov, “Snowstorm” by Gleb Glebov, “Moscow Twilight” by Alyona Zvantsova, “She” by Larisa Sadilova, “Pelmeni” by Gennady Ostrovsky, “Insight” by Alexander Melentyev, “Sex, Coffee and Cigarettes” by Sergey Oldenburg-Svintsov, “Dog’s Paradise” by Anna Chernakova, "Hard Luck" by Konstantin Murzenko and "Mine" by Nurbek Egen.
Beside the main show a separate presentation of movies already shown on other film festivals was presented to festival guests.
In addition, for the first time internet based “Window to Internet” short film competition was held as a part of the festival.
Also, guests were able to join round-table discussions dedicated to current issues of Russian cinema.
