From October 1 till 8, 2013 Moscow will host the VIII International Festival-School of Contemporary Art ‘Territoria’.
The festival program consists of three parts: education, foreign and Russian. To participate in the first part about 150 students of creative disciplines from Russia and neighboring countries were selected. They will have the opportunity to see the entire program and take part in specially organized master classes. Internationally renowned filmmakers, artists, theater teachers, actors and singers will share their skills with the students. This year, the theatre and music program will present work from Germany, Belgium, Greece and Norway, along with performances from ‘Golden Mask’ nominees and award-winning young Russian stage directors: Timofey Kulyabin, Philip Grigoryan and Dmitry Volkostrelov. The festival finale will be a new musical production from a leading contemporary theatre process, Kirill Serebrennikov.
Foreign part of the festival will introduce the projects that go beyond the traditional dramatic theater. One of such projects with the name “Play” opened the festival.
As for the Russian part of the program, it focuses on plays of the young directors and art directors of the festival.
The festival was opened at the Theatre of Nations, but will be held until October 8 at seven different theatres of Moscow.
The main goal of the festival is to introduce artistic youth to a wide range of some of the best contemporary performance art. Special emphasis is paid to an educational process. Traditionalloy, the festival program includes a series of master-classes, seminars and meetings with leading European directors, actors and choreographers.
International Festival-School ‘Territoria’ was established in 2006 with support from Ministry of Culture and City Government of Moscow. The organizers of the festival offered a completely different method of involving Russian youth theatre in an international cultural context: by meeting and interacting with current events and significant trends in the world of theatre and the performing arts.
