One of the most extraordinary festivals in the world, the Moscow International Film Festival Golden Fang opened in Vladikavkaz. Its main participants were animal actors and people working with them on the set.
Among the festival participants are the stunt cat Kuzma, who played in 30 films; Savely, the parrot, who speaks five languages and filmed with Alexander Lazarev, Elizaveta Boyarskaya and Daria Moroz; Irish wolfhounds Vira and Ryzhik, the characters of mystical thrillers; Chapa, the lama; Australian Silky Terrier Luka; the three-meter long female python Malvina and other animals.
Together with the national cinema stars they will represent competition program of the festival, which, in particular, includes the following films: "All inclusive", "Stand-in", "Treasures of Kaban Lake", "Olympic Village", "Handing myself in good hands", "Daddy's Daughters", "Soldiers", "Yeralash" and "Caution: children" TV projects.
"I hope that this festival – the only one in the world dedicated to the animals' performance on set – will stimulate the development of good family cinema in Russia", the project President, the head of Mosfilm-Kinologia studio Victor Zuikov said at the press conference in Moscow. He cited the example of Soviet films: "Tiger Girl", "Striped Trip", "White Bim Black Ear", "To me, Mukhtar!" "Unfortunately, modern filmmakers pay almost no attention to this kind of films, while now there is a huge lack of them," Zuikov believes.
The festival also hosted concerts; meetings with artists; performances of trainers, stuntmen and actors; round tables; seminars and discussions. The festival, which lasted in Vladikavkaz until April 19, was organized by Mosfilm-Kinologia Studio; the Stuntmen Guild of Russia; the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania with the support of the Government of the Republic.
Golden Fang festival has been held in Moscow since 2000. It is an international festival and journalists have nicknamed it "Oscar for animals" long ago.
