17th New Italian Cinema Festival started in Moscow with "The Great Beauty" film by Paolo Sorrentino. The festival takes place in the framework of the Year of Tourism in Italy and Russia and the program includes movies shot by young directors, which reflect the urgent problems of Italian society.

"We are honored to open our festival with Oscar-winning film "The Great Beauty", which is for us a symbol of the new Italian cinema," the head of the festival Viviana del Bianco noted. According to her, the film program, which was selected specifically for the Russian audience, includes films of different genres that can give the most comprehensive view of contemporary Italian cinema.

Totally, festival poster includes 11 Italian films produced over the last few years. Among them is the comedy by Edoardo Leo "Hello, Dad," which tells the story of a young selfish careerist, who suddenly finds his adult daughter. She helps him to reconsider his entire life and become a caring father.

The film of Giorgio Diritti "Once you'll leave" demonstrates the life of slum dwellers in Manaus, which, however, serves only as a background for the narration about the tragic history of 30-old woman, who cannot find herself, try as she might. À complete contrast to it is Maria Sole Tognazzi's film "Five star life." This is the story of a business woman, traveling the country as a mystery guest of luxury hotels, whose hospitality she has to evaluate.

Consciously chosen path of being lonely gives the character a sense of self-sufficiency and the brightest emotions. The film repeatedly was marked by critics as a "fine, sincere work of the director, who has the talent to talk about the beautiful half of humanity."

The Festival of New Italian Cinema will also be held in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Samara, Vladivostok and other Russian cities.

The festival is organized with the support of Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy and the Russian State Central Museum of Cinema.
