The film about an imaginary day in the life of the Australian rock musician Nick Cave opens the anniversary festival on new documentary films about music ‘Beat Film Festival’ that takes place in Moscow from May 27 to June 8, 2014, as the spokesman of the festival said.
Beat Film Festival is an international festival of new documentary films about music and modern culture which annually gathers several thousand people in Moscow and other cities. The sites of the anniversary show held from May 27 to June 8, 2014 will be the capital’s cinemas “Formula Kino Horizon”, Documentary Film Centre, “Muzeon” Art Park. The Festival was opened by the British film “20,000 Days on Earth” - an innovative docudrama devoted to one imaginary day in the life of Nick Cave where the well-known musician and writer plays the role of himself.
It was first shown at the festival “Sundance” where it received two awards: for best direction and editing, and then at the Berlinale, the film has already become one of the biggest film events of the year” - the interlocutor of the agency said. Two modern artists - Ian Forsyth and Jane Pollard – worked on the film, they will come to the opening of the festival in Moscow, and the cameraman was Eric Willson known for the films “The Double” and “Submarine”.
The basic program of Beat Film Festival, which will take place within the framework of the Year of Russian Culture in the UK, includes 10 films. Thus, the guests of the festival will see the film about the irreplaceable secretary of The Beatles, the bands Depeche Mode, The National, The Prodigy, Alice Cooper and Moby and many other musicians. The festival will be closed by the world premiere of the film “Eshche” (“More”) by Dmitry Lavrinenko dedicated to the Russian group “Auktsyon”.
