The 9th International Media Art Festival "Cyberfest" will be held in the Youth Educational Center of the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg from November 26 to December 2.
The exhibition program is focused on The Patterns of Mind and the subject of the artist's creative expression by means of modern media technologies and the way that make perception of art more complex.
The Cyberfest is a globally acclaimed festival of modern media art that is held not only in St. Petersburg, but also in Moscow, Berlin, London, New York, Vilnius and Bogota. Art videos and media installations by artists from Russia, the USA, France, China, Norway, and Great Britain have been selected for display in the Hermitage.
Along with the exhibition The Patterns of Mind, the festival program offers special events.
November 27 will see the lecture Electric Universe by the British artist Paul Malone, who is going to tell about the role of electrodynamics in morphology of modern astronomy objects (no expert knowledge is expected from the audience).
On December 2 American artists Carla Gannis and Peter Petshen will give a workshop under the name "Future Sacrifices of Minor Gods" and will figure out together with participants the future ways to recycle electronic waste and create new hybrids from outdated technologies.
Two more Syberfest events will be arranged in the venue Taiga (20, Dvortsovaya Embankment). 22 artists from all over the world will take part in the videoart show Modus Operandi on November 26 (starting at 8 pm).
On November 28 at 20.00 sound artists Sergey Komarov and Alexey Grachyov will give the concert workshop Subjectization of Sound and demonstrate achievements in the field of sound synthesis with its subsequent visualization.
Potential visitors of the exhibition should keep in mind that Sunday and Monday will be days off.
