Pristine Russia is one of the most large-scale and captivating photography festivals in this country. It has been held since 2014 and every time attracts more and more lovers of the beauty of Russian nature. For one month long unique works by naturalist photographers are exhibited in Moscow, and afterwards residents of various cities of Russia and other countries get an opportunity to see them. Over two years the festival has been visited for more than 2 million people in 70 countries around the world.
The 3rd Festival Pristine Russia is taking place in Moscow from January 22 till February 25, 2016. The festival space falls into five zones, where every visitor irrespective of age will find something to his or her taste.
The great Russian River Volga is the central theme of the 3rd All-Russian Festival Primitive Russia this year.
The exposition was created as a result of a scientific and art expedition, which conducted large-scale research work on River Volga in the summer of 2015. Twenty experts from various fields — naturalists, geologists, culturologists, cameramen, photographers and artists — studied the main waterway of the European part of Russia.
During the voyage the expedition members studied the main characteristic features of the peoples of the Volga area and peculiarities of regional architecture monuments, carried out works in the field of geology and hydrology, and captured rare photos and videos. Their fruitful work yielded valuable scientific and artistic materials, part of which will be presented as an audiovisual installation under the name Volga. Thanks to unique pictures and documentary records the audience will be able to make a journey around the open spaces of Russian without even stepping out of the exhibition center.
The festival will also present a photo exhibition that brings together the best pictures by the Russian photographers, who captured views of the homeland nature last year. Visitors will see impressive varied landscapes of Russia: rough rivers and transparent lakes, mountain ridges and sea coasts, as well as inhabitants of these inmost recesses of Russian land.
An exposition dedicated to the world-famous traveler Fyodor Konyukhov will be an integral though surprizing part for the festival visitors. He is known for his amazing worldwide travels, including 5 global cruises, 17 transatlantics, and a single rowboat voyage from Chile to Australia across the Pacific Ocean.
On weekends the visitors are welcomed to thematic film screenings, meetings with authors, travelers and curators of the protected natural zones, workshops of naturalist photographers, popular scientific lectures and presentations of ecology projects.
Children can watch Russian animated films, scientific experiments, adventure games, as well as captivating master classes by artists, writers and animators here.
