This time the Circle of Light is going to set a new Ginness record and present an even more large-scale video projection in seven venues.
From September 23 to 27, 2016 the Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light" will be held in the capital city of Russia. In the framework of this annual event lighting designers and experts in the field of audiovisual art transform the architectural appearance of Moscow by means of video mapping.
Building facades of Russia's symbols, namely the Bolshoi Theatre, Manege Exhibition Centre, the Moscow State University, the ENEA (Exhibition of National Economy Achievements) and others – will be turned into canvases for large-scale colourful video projections. Admission to all the festival venues is free.
The Moscow State University building will become the major canvas for the video projection that is expected to break the previous Ginness' record. This invention has every chance for victory: the area of a single video canvas will make about 25 thousand square meters. Light show will be dedicated to the history of the University, as well as the topic of the human's interaction with the nature.
For five days light projections will be shown on the central pavilion of the ENEA, which will also become a venue for the concert of Turetsky's Choir. Music and light show will support one and the same subject — the Year of Russian Cinema.
A fascinating fairy tale will unfold on the Grebnoy Channel. Gushes of light will flow over the smooth water surface, and the two banks will be connected with a light copy of a bridge.
If you want to see the cream of the crop, visit the festival venue in the building of Izvestia Hall. This is where masters of light installations from around the world will get together — they will mix light and lasers to the accompaniment of unusual music in the framework of the VJ contest of Art Vision.
The international video mapping and VJing contest Art Vision will be held in three nominations:
*Classic Architectural Projection Mapping Competition
*Contemporary Art Projection Mapping Competition
*VJs Competition
Representatives of the Russian and foreign on-stage performance groups, design studios, student's and professional associations, etc. can participate in the competitions.
An educational program will be a part and parcel of the festival. It will include lectures and master classes by world-class lighting designers. All the educational events are open to the public upon preliminary registration.
