The all-Russian action Cinema Night will for the first time take place in Moscow and other cities of Russia on the night of August 27 to 28. The event is timed to the Day of Russian Cinema. The Night of Cinema will run all over the country – from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. Free night film screenings  will take place at movie theaters, cultural institutions and public parks of Moscow.

 August 27 is the official Day of Russian Cinema. At the initiative of the Moscow Culture Department the capital city of  Russia will for the first time celebrate this holiday not only in the afternoon, but also at night. From noon and till late night dozens of movie theaters, libraries, museums, cultural centers, concert venues and parks will arrange premiere and classical film screenings, shows and meetings with the most prominent figures of the Russian cinema, concerts with music from favourite movies, thematic excursions around Moscow, as well as master classes, lectures and castings for those just starting their way to the cinema art.

The Theatre Square with an improvised open-air cinema and concert hall with a stage and a huge LED screen will become the central venue of the action. Demonstration of a full-length animated film for children and the military movie Batallion as well as a symphonic concert with music from famous movies will take place here in the afternoon of August 27. These will be followed with a music concert featuring Russian film stars in the evening.

Moscow parks will turn into creative laboratories, where all comers will have a chance to see how the cinema is arranged from the inside and even try one of the film professions. Meetings with famous film directors and producers, lectures, master classes and film screenings in unusual formats will take place in parks during the day.

The October movie theater will arrange the premiere of the film about the great composer Prokofiev: During the Travel. Konstantin Khabensky, Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuyev, Anna Matison and the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra took part in its creation.
