Unique social and cultural project will present modern Jewish art from September 22 to September 25.
The Festival of Modern Jewish Culture in Yekaterinburg will present instrumental and vocal music, dance, history of cinema, photo, and literature of this old nation.
"Our festival is a venue for acquaintance with the Jewish culture of the 21st century, for talks and discussions, cultural recognition and mutual respect of all the festival participants and visitors.
We hope that the festival will enrich the cultural atmosphere of the city, and promote the principles of mutual understanding and respect - in spite of the fact that the event is held in Yekaterinburg for the first time, the Jewish community is well developed in this city, with our peoples and cultures traditionally interacting, and partners of the festival are the largest Jewish organizations of both Yekaterinburg and Russia", - Irina Gutkina, the director of the Yekaterinburg Jewish cultural center Menora explained.
The festival program includes:
1) lectures about Jewish culture, art and mentality conducted by the famous journalist and music critic, the producer of the Jazz Globe festival and association Vladimir Mack (Israel);
2) the Art of Charity exhibition (Joint, Russia, Moscow);
3) photo exhibition The Place by the photographer and guide Alex Tabak (Israel),
4) presentation of cities and projects "Israel Opens the Doors";
5) lectures about the Jewish cinema held by Svetlana Pakhomova (Russia, Moscow);
6) Poetic Cabaret based on Jewish poetry to take place at the EverJazz club platform.
Visitors will have an opportunity to take part in workshops on modern Jewish dance, family reading, cookery and other interesting events.
A large-scale music program will be very attractive for jazz lovers: concerts of modern Jewish jazz music will run on the stage of EverJazz jazz club.
The festival is open for all comers. Entrance to all the festival events is free.
