World stars, as well as young soloists and groups from six countries will participate in the 13th International Festival "Jazz in Philharmonics" just started in Kaliningrad. This was reported about by Irina Shevchenko from the Yevgeny Svetlanov Regional Philharmonic Hall that organizes this large-scale music event.
"Jazz of all trends and styles as performed by two orchestras, with over 20 musicians and soloists from Poland, Latvia, Germany, the USA, Lithuania and Russia will sound in concert halls of the Regional Philharmonic Hall and the House of Arts for five evenings. From dixieland to soul, from fusion to "soft" jazz - such is the music pallette that will colour autumn Kaliningrad", - she said.
The festival was opened with the performance of the Confusion Project jazz ensemble of Michal Ciesielski from Poland. In 2014 it was recognized one of the four best jazz bands of Europe. Another leader of the Polish jazz showed up in the concert - it was the Trio of Adam Golitsky boasting rich experience of international performances, an extensive discography and numerous accolades of critics and fans.
November 6 will be the Russian day in the festival program. Its headliner will be the legendary Russian saxophonist, the People's Artist of Russia, Igor Butman. He will perform together with his jazz quintet and the Chamber Orchestra of the Kaliningrad Philharmonic Hall. Another star and winner of international festivals, the young gifted pianist Oleg Akkuratov will also take part in the concert with the personal invitation by Igor Butman.
From November 8 "Jazz in Philharmonics" will start singing: three festival concerts will be mainly about vocal jazz. The young Latvian singer Daumants Kalninsh will present a program under the speaking name - Frank Sinatra, 100. The relay of jazz vocal will be taken up by the musician and singer Stefan Gwildis from Germany. The last festival night, November 13, will see a concert of the brilliant vocalist with over 20 years on stage, Mandy Gaines from the USA. Her singing will be accompanied with young masters of Lithuanian jazz, the quartet under the leadership of pianist Linas Karalyunas.
The international festival Jazz in Philharmonics is held with assistance of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Government of the Kaliningrad Region and diplomatic missions of member countries in Kaliningrad.
