Victory Park will be transformed again: a miraculous ice town with Russia's most interesting places all together will appear on the Poklonnaya Hill.
December 29 will see the grand opening ceremony of the Ice Moscow Festival in the Victory Park. This year, visitors are welcomed to make a unique journey through Russia, without even leaving Moscow. Ice replicas of the Moscow Kremlin, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Kizhi and other architectural masterpieces of Russia will be created here.
Ice has been delivered to the festival site since the 15th of December. More than a thousand ton of natural ice from Russia's cleanest bodies of water will be used for the constructions and sculptures. The height of nearly all the sculptures will be around six meters. A real giant among them will be the 10-meter high Kremlin's Spassky Tower. All together, the ice art objects will make a magic land, which will be opened by the main Father Frost who is coming for the occasion from his fairy land in Veliky Ustyug.
Of course, there is no winter holiday without the rides! Six ice slides will be placed in the center. Sliding down from them, you can virtually travel from one Russian ice city to another. By the way, you can slide as far as one hundred meters - that is the length of the largest slide, which is dedicated to the city of Sochi, the Olympic capital of the year before last.
In addition, visitors will see Snowmen Show, puppetry, an animation program and a fair, where you can treat yourself to incredibly tasty pancakes and warm yourself with hot tea and coffee with marshmallows.
Another miracle of the Festival is the town of fairy tales. Here you will walk the paths of fairytale characters known to you since childhood, and visit the places that earlier you used to read and dream about only. Take a selfie against the background of a Flying Ship, a palace of fairytale characters or the Snow Queen's Throne!
