From April 7 to 23 the Chamber Music Theater "St. Petersburg Opera" will be hosting the 2nd International Chamber Opera Festival.
The program of the St. Petersburg Opera Festival is interesting and diverse:
April 9 will see Georg Handel's play Imeneo performed by the Warsaw Chamber Opera for the first time at the festival. Singers from France and Italy, representing the European Association "Art Europe" will also perform.
On April 13, the Moscow Musical Theater "Helicon-Opera" will present its opera-buff version of The Imaginary Gardener by Wolfgang Mozart.
On April 15, French opera singers will show "Castle of the Duke Bluebeard" by Bela Bartok.
On April 16, Italian opera masters will sing baroque intermezzos by Domenico Sarro and Tomaso Albinoni.
On April 19, the Moscow Pokrovsky State Academic Chamber Music Theater will show a comic opera based on Carlo Goldoni's play The Four Terrible.
The festival will be opened and closed with two recent premieres of the Chamber Music Theater "St. Petersburg Opera": Les Cloches de Corneville (aka The Bells of Corneville) by Robert Planquette and Cavalleria Rusticana (or The Rural Honour) by Pietro Mascagni respectively.
