Museum Night 2017 in St. Petersburg, Part I

The annual action dedicated to the International Museum Day will be held in St. Petersburg on the night of May 20 to 21. Petersburg museums will leave their doors open till dawn to please visitors with concerts, quests, performances and special excursions. Museums and libraries will prepare extensive entertainment and educational programs for adults and children alike.

This year, the events of the Museum Night will unfold in 109 museums, galleries, libraries, as well as concert and exhibition halls of Saint Petersburg. Out of these, 47 museums will be open till dawn. For example, the Russian Museum invites you to take a walk around the Summer Garden, the Street Art Museum will tell you about artistic life on the threshold of the revolution, and Tsarskoye Selo welcomes visitors to the Upper Greenhouses that are going to be opened.

The happenings of the Russian Museum Night 2017 will hinge on two themes: the Year of Ecology in Russia and the Revolution of 1917.

The single Museum Night ticket at the cost of 400 rubles will take you to all of the action venues in Saint Petersburg you select to visit.

From 11 pm buses will run between the museums of the night program. The city metro will work around the clock.

More than 100 museums, libraries, parks and other venues of Saint Petersburg are taking part in the Museum Night this year. Even if you have an ardent desire to visit all of them in one night - it is unrealistic. But this is no reason to lose heart. Choose the ones that are most interesting for you, and go for it! Let's have a look at a historic shipyard, spend the night among the stars, and grasp the laws of macro and microcosm.

Museum Night in the Baltic House Theater
What is common between art and ecology? In the Baltic House they believe that both are aimed at creating. Thus it is creating that visitors will be engaged in here: you will be offered to stage your own performance on a particular topic. Further on you will watch a musical show, visit an exhibition of scenographic materials, and sneak into the School of Magic. The Territory Theater Club will entertain children.

Museum Night at Historic Shipyard "Poltava"
Here you will have a chance to get acquainted with the process of shipbuilding, see the replica of a linear ship built according to design of Peter I himself, learn about the life of seamen and technologies of the 18th century. Moreover, cannon shots will be fired on the shore of the Gulf of Finland.

Museum Night in the Planetarium
The Petersburg Planetarium invites you to spend the Museum Night among the stars. The most insightful and romantic place in the city will please visitors with the program "Those who Changed the Earth and Space. People and Technology. What is a man’s place in the infinite cosmos? How does it affect the Earth? Answers to these questions will boggle your mind.
When: from 6 pm, May 20 to 6 am, May 21
Where: 4, Aleksandrovsky Park, next to Gorkovskaya, Petrogradskaya, and Sportivnaya metro stations.
