The Most Striking Events of Museum Night 2017 in Moscow, Part I

More than 200 venues in Moscow are taking part in the grand cultural action Museum Night. We have selected a few that promise to be the most interesting to you.
Museum Night at the National Centre for Contemporary Arts
Sound artist Dmitry Mazurov will give an incredible show at the intersection of electronic and academic music, as well as sound art. It starts at 10:50 pm. Eleven works from the Japanese Festival of Media Arts will be displayed from 7:50 pm. To see them you need to register and be above 18 years of age. Music, dance and technology – the way there were 25 years ago and their present stage – will be discussed at the round table from 8 pm. Employees and special guests of the National Center for Contemporary Art will tell visitors about the current state of media art in the world. The program includes meet-the-artist events, concerts, and performances. In addition, viewers will discuss Russian club culture, and watch the film "The Dance Epoch" about the onset of rave movement in Russia. The exhibition Life of the Living dedicated to the interaction of the city and art will be opened all day long for free visit. All the events are free, though
pre-registration is required to some of them.

The Final Stage of Exhibition SOTA + PYRFYR
A powerful mix of modern dance and performance will be shown at the State Gallery on Solyanka. Visitors will see an exhibition created by the students as a result of studying the text and the body. The peculiarity of these shows is that dance and performance will take place not on usual theatre stage, but in the urban, museum and exhibition spaces.

Museum Night at the Artplay Design Center
The grand performance Tuning Art Museum consists of 100 auto-projects: a car art exhibition, a moto exhibition, an extreme-park, model shows and the Miyagi & Endspiel concert. Organic People Market will offer healthy food treats and arrange master classes. One of the most interesting attractions is the multimedia exhibition “From Monet to Malevich. Great Modernists”, with the entrance ticket of 500 rubles.

Museum Night at the Museum of Contemporary Art "Garage"
May 20 will see the opening of two new exhibitions – “Art Industry of Congo: Painting for the People” and "Kholin and Sapgir. As a Manuscript" in the Museum of Contemporary Art "Garage".
Visitors will undertake a quest to get acquainted with the museum collection and see how the Russian art has changed since the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the evening the public will hear "Unprincipled Recitals": the texts of Narine Abgaryan, Alexander Malenkov, Andrey Astvatsaturov, Alexander Snegiryov, Masha Traub and other modern writers.
The entrance ticket to the exhibition “Art Industry of Congo: Painting for the People” costs 400 rubles. All other events are free of charge.
