The 5th photo festival “Pristine Russia” will be held in the Central House of Artist, Moscow, from January 26 to February 25.
“Pristine Russia” is one of the most ambitious and fascinating festivals, dedicated to the nature of Russia. The event, having become a tradition already, brings together thousands of fans of the beauty of Russian nature.
Annually held since 2014, every year the festival attracts more and more wildlife photo artists, nature lovers and connoisseurs of Russian nature. Within a month, unique works by nature photographers are exhibited in Moscow, and then residents of many cities of Russia and other countries get the opportunity to see them as well. Over three years, more than 2.5 million people in 70 countries around the world have visited the festival.
Visitors of the 5th festival “Pristine Russia” will see this country from a perspective never seen by general public before. Cosmonaut Sergei Ryazansky will present his photos taken from the space. On July 28, 2017, he started from the Baikonur Cosmodrome as the head of the crew of the Soyuz MS-05 spacecraft and the crew of the International Space Station.
This year the exposition of the festival will be even richer than usual: it will present about 450 high-quality photographs of the pristine Russian nature taken by 160 nature photographers, as well as several special projects created by foreign photographers.
The festival organizers try to pay special attention to the history of nature photography. This year the exposition includes pictures by one of the pioneers of photo-hunting, Oleg Polishchuk, who photographed with Zenith camera in the 1970s-80s. His black and white photographs of animals in many ways outstripped the most popular subjects of modern wildlife photographers.
More than 20 works by the best Swedish photographers will be presented in the framework of the "guest" exposition.
“For the fifth anniversary of the festival, we have decided to invite guests. The unique exhibition of the finalists of the most prestigious competition of nature photography Wildlife Photographer of the Year presents 83 winner photos of 2017. The second exposition consists of 21 photos by the best Swedish photographers”, - the festival leader Tamara Panteleyeva said.
Vladimir Alekseev’s exhibition "Following the Tracks of Russian pioneers" will attract the visitors’ attention to the problems of the Antarctic wildlife.
In addition, the nature protection projects of the Russian Railways and Gazprom will be displayed in the framework of the festival. The Russian Geographical Society will present the works by 48 finalists of the contest "The Most Beautiful Country".
The winners of the third national contest "Photo Trap 2017" will be awarded in the framework of the festival.
February 20 will be dedicated to the topics of eco volunteering.
The film program of Pristine Russia will present the best Russian documentary and animated films about wildlife. Famous Russian travelers, scientists, documentary filmmakers, domestic and foreign photographers will talk about their work, their creativity, and conduct master classes.
Children will also find lots of interesting things at the festival, with a special program organized for them.
“The main purpose of the festival is to show how beautiful and at the same time vulnerable and fragile the wildlife of Russia is. It is meant to make every visitor think about what they can do to preserve this beauty for future generations”, - Tamara Panteleyeva, head of the All-Russian Nature Festival "Pristine Russia" emphasized.
