30 April - 2 May, 2018 in Kolomenskoe Museum Reserve, Moscow
Are you a fan of medieval chivalry? Do not miss the world's largest historical reconstruction festival! Visitors will view the tournament of the world's best knights and get acquainted with the traditional weapons, clothing, ornaments and cuisine of the past centuries, as well as attend the fair of ancient crafts.
More of the Middle Ages!
St. George's Tournament 2018 is three days of knight jousting and group equestrian battles, as well as two-handed axe and sword fights. The tournament reproduces in detail the European knight competitions of the 15th century: from the rules of refereeing to the props in the tilting yard. No stage productions and imitations! The tournament means real clashes and fights, a true medieval sport, dangerous and noble.
All over the world, only three equestrian all-wood spear tournaments are held as per historical rule. One of them is in Russia – and that is the St. George Tournament. Over a hundred participants from different cities of the world. 3 days of knightly competitions. Historical fair of arts and crafts, teaching and entertainment, a thematic food court.
The International St. George Tournament is one of the three largest historical and reconstructive festivals of the world, dedicated to the era of the Late Middle Ages. More than 120 reconstruction masters from Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, the Netherlands and other countries will take part in the knight festival.
The reconstructors reproduce the world of medieval chivalry in historically authentic details. Clothing and footwear, armor, weapons, harness and ornaments are made according to ancient designs and patterns. Tournaments, the battles of horsemen and infantrymen are real sports that require high mastery in of special combat techniques.
Specially for the festival, a 15th century like town with a tilting yard, a shooting range and a fair will be constructed in the museum-reserve "Kolomenskoye".
Tournament Program
The tournament will bring together the best knights from Russia, Canada, Great Britain, Holland and Belarus. You will see the most authentic reconstruction of the knight tournament of the 15th century. Knights wearing heavy armor plates will combat in jousting (two horsemen attack each other, armed with solid wood spears), melee (group fights of horsemen) and dismounted tournament, which for the first time will be held as an independent match with its own winner.
