In the last days of May, the anniversary festival kicked off in Moscow. It is not only telling about the new culture and demonstrating documentary films, but is introduces amazing documentaries. A great many exciting stories and edutainment meetings are there for the visitors.

Gala Premieres

Russian premieres of the seven most high-profile festival hits that epitomize viewer documentary films today.

This year, the program Beat Film Festival includes seven documentary blockbusters, telling about modern culture and people who are actively involved in its creation.

Free Solo
The festival’s headliner is the Oscar award winner, the documentary Free Solo about the head-spinning climb of the mountaineer Alex Honnold to one of the highest North American peaks, El Capitan. Alone and without any harness or belay, he surmounted a thousand meters up a sheer cliff in less than four hours. This is one of the most incredible feats in the history of modern sports, which can be compared to landing on the Moon.

A Dog Called Money

Among other festival premieres, there is the travelogue A Dog Called Money about the expedition of singer PJ Harvey and photographer Seamus Murphy to Washington, Kosovo and Afghanistan. This mind-bending blend of the personal with the political, the musical with the visual ultimately turns into a unique experience, comparable to a live concert.

Celebration
The film Celebration about the latest collection of the legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent displays the entrails of his fashion house at the end of his life, clear-eyed and unvarnished. Do not expect to watch a small-talk entertaining movie about fashion. Instead, you will see distinct and downright portraits of a genius who completely dedicated himself to fashion.
