Moscow Museums of Photography

Photo exhibitions are becoming more and more popular, and new photo galleries appear in Moscow. Muscovites as well as the guests of the Russian capital enjoy visiting museums of photography presented in this article.

The Lumiere brothers Centre for Photography

This place is designed for the work with professional photographers, photographic collections, photographic exhibitions and photo galleries. In addition to holding regular photographic exhibitions the Centre deals with education and research, supports its own publishing program and forms the basis for the creation of the "Russian Museum of Photography".

Multimedia Art Museum

The museum "Moscow House of Photography" was founded in 1996.  It was the first Russian State Museum specializing in the art of photography. In 2001 it was transformed into the State Institution of Culture and Education "Multimedia Complex of Actual Arts". The complex consists of three business units: 1. "Moscow House of Photography" Museum. 2. Alexander Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia which opened in 2006. 3. Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow - its collection includes video installations and other works created with the use of the latest multimedia technologies.

"Garage" Centre  for Contemporary Culture

This is the first project of Iris Charitable Foundation of art development and support founded in 2008 by Daria Zhukova. "Garage" has become a continuation of Russian philanthropic activities tradition that was very well developed in pre-revolutionary Russia.

Central House of Artists (CHA)

In recent years, a significant place in the exhibition activities was taken by the exhibitions of architecture, design, art design of industrial products, fashion, photography and advertising. Such annual exhibitions and fairs as "Antique Salon", "Design and Advertising", "Architecture and Design", "Shop Design", "Ambiente Russia" and "Non fiction" broadly represent the full range of contemporary art development in various fields.

Photographer.Ru Gallery

This gallery is specializing in contemporary copyrighted photography. Rejecting the distinction between "reportage" and "art photos” Photographer.Ru promotes everything that is united by personal, private "world views" of different artists. The emphasis is placed on the demonstration of the works of contemporary Western authors setting the pace of modern photographic language development as well as it is placed on the collaboration with promising Russian artists that are worthy of inclusion into the global context
