It is a countryside residence of Professor Pavel Chistyakov, the favourite teacher of the most prominent Russian artists of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The owner himself participated in designing his country house in Tsarskoye Selo. The architect Alexander Kolb designed it in the Russian style, with wood-carved decor outside and inside. In the house visitors see portraits of the artist's family, an ancient grand piano, and original paintings by Pavel Chistyakov (1832 – 1919).
In this unique monument of the Russian wooden architecture of the second half of the 19 century the room interiors are in accord with the fantastic outer decor of the house.
Art students of Pavel Chistyakov, as well as musicians and actors often got together in his house estate. Loud musicales ran to the accompaniment of the ancient grand piano, which is still in the living room. This hall still brings together lovers of classical music. Chamber concerts and literary musicales are held there from time to time.
The main attraction of the estate is certainly original paintings by Pavel Chistyakov.
He was a Teacher with a capital T. Thanks to his outstanding talent he went down the history of Russian art. Victor Borisov-Musatov and Victor Vasnetsov, Vasily Polenov and Mikhail Vrubel, Anton Kandaurov and Ilya Repin, Vasily Surikov and Valentin Serov, as well as many other famous artists considered themselves to be his followers.
Nowadays the estate hosts children's educational programs, master classes and evenings with musicians, poets, actors and artists. Visitos can watch an art slide movie about the life of the estate owners and learn about their lige stories.
