It is also known to art lovers as Moscow House of Photography. The museum opened in the mid 1990s came to be a real break-through for cultural life of Russia. Back then it was the first place, where photos made the main contents of an exhibition.
Nowadays the Multimedia Art Museum is not just a museum with multitude of magnificent art photos but an art and educational complex of grand scale.
The museum takes an enormous area on seven floors. One needs a whole lot of time to see all its expositions! Over the last few years the Multimedia Art Museum organized more than one and a half thousand exhibitions of Russian and foreign photographers, including outstanding masters, such as Alexander Rodchenko, Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz and many others.
Along with photos, worth of seeing are vivid and high-quality performances that are held in the Multimedia Art Museum with the use of trendsetting technologies and their multiple opportunities.
Another very important part of the museum activity is meetings with famous figures of art: photographers, models, documentary film directors, and artists. Film screenings also run here.
The Multimedia Art Museum carries out educational acitivities, mostly workshops both for grown-ups and children. Workshops in art photography are regularly held here. Very popular is the art history course and, certainly, the famous Rodchenko Photo and Multimedia School. Lots of graduates of this school subsequently grow up to be renowned masters and participate in exhibitions of the Multimedia Art Museum
