The training ground for astronauts welcomes guests.
25 kilometers to the northeast of Moscow there is arcane Star Town, where the Russian austronauts have been living and training since the 1960s.
For those interested in space exploration and astronautics the Star Town is a true paradise. For example, it keeps a model of the Mir Space Station which was on the Earth orbit for 15 years and is presently harboured at the Pacific Ocean bed. The full-scale model of the space station plunges you into the atmosphere of space life and gives you a detailed picture of it.
Besides, the visitors can see the gigantic Centrifuge CF-18, which is used for flight simulation loading. The unique hydrolaboratory, where astronauts perfect their skills of working in the outer space is also of great interest.
Besides, all comers can try a space suit on, meet an astronaut, and exercise in an aviation medical training vehicle here.
The Astronautics Museum has more than 20000 exhibits in its collection. The exhibition demonstrates the development dynamics of space aircrafts and tells about the life of Yury Gagarin.
The museum occupies four halls, in which visitors can get acquainted with the space training program. Visitors are highly interested in the study room of the first ever astronaut. The museum has its copy, and there is a tradition of visiting it by the crew going for a space mission.
Just like 45 years ago Star Town is the place of residence for astronauts and their families, scientists and staff. The local sights include the Heroes Avenue, Yury Gagarin monument, Star Lake and Transfiguration Church.
