Literary Yard "Krylov's Fables" in Moscow
April 21, 2016 14:52

Amidst innumerable Moscow yards there is a very special one, where children enjoy not just walking and frolicing, but also playing to be characters of the wise and funny fables by Ivan Krylov.
The most famous and favourite characters of the great fabulist Ivan Krylov's fables loved by several generations of the Russians since their childhood have settled down in the yard of House 2 in the Otkrytoye Highway.
Color stone sculptures depict various scenes from fables: a flattering fox is going to outwit a crow holding a piece of cheese  in its beak; an ill-starred quartet of a goat, a donkey, a bear and a monkey are trying hard to play music; an ignorant pig is gnawing roots of a mighty oak, which yields her favourite acorns.
Though located among usual high-rise buildings in the house adjoining territory, this ensemble of sculptures is a real sight of the area. Those who get here by chance are always surprised at seeing such a nook, bookish and so alive at the same time.
Nearby houses' dwellers with their children like to spend time here and are proud of this literary yard and keep it orderly and clean.
