The Museum of Archeology is the only underground museum in Moscow. It is located in the area of large-scale archaeological excavations carried out in the mid 1990s.
Household items of Moscow life of the 15th - 17th centuries make the basis of the exposition. These include birch bark corks, white-stone and clay sinkers, locks, knives and even hygienic devices for ears.
Another highlight if the exhibition is a the Spanish Treasure. This find is a copper basin filled with colonial Spanish silver coins to the top. Among the found coins there was a fake one, made of bronze.
In the course of excursions visitors can try on dresses of medieval Muscovites, and get acquainted with life of the Russian capital city of that era. In free classes given in the museum pupils can not only have a close look at numerous archeological finds, but also get to know methods of the scientific researches used in archeological excavations.
On the days off the museum welcomes to visitors to take part in thematic games and quizes dedicated to key events in the history of the Russian capital city.

from 10 am t0 6 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday;
from 11 am to 9 pm on Thursday;
from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday
