In the framework of the large-scale project Great Hermitage the world famous Russian museum goes on working in its regional centers and starts activities in the cities of Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Omsk and Kaluga, where its cultural and educational centers will shortly be opened.
The Hermitage Days will be held in the Museum of Fine Arts in Yekaterinburg from October 14 to October 21. The staff delegation of the State Hermitage Museum headed by its deputy director Alexey Bogdanov will arrive in the capital city of the Urals for participation in the event.
The key event of the Hermitage Days will be the opening of the one masterpiece exhibition on October 14. Specialists of the State Hermitage Museum will give of lectures about the history and modern life of the country's principal museum. The series of lectures under the title The Great Museum. Past, Present, and Future will be held from October 17 to October 21. In the framework of the Hermitage Days there will also take place a lecture and workshop of the artist-restorer of the State Hermitage, Alexander Androkhanov, a specialist in restoring items with malachite mosaics and color stone carving.
It is a reminder that the Hermitage Urals Center is planned to be opened in Yekaterinburg in 2018. It will be housed in a museum building at the address 11, Weiner Street. During the Great Patriotic War the Sverdlovsk Art Gallery was the Hermitage branch, where unique exhibits were stored and taken care of for five years of war. After the end of war all the art works were returned to Leningrad. The opening of the Hermitage Urals Center will definitely become a breakthrough event of high significance for the Sverdlovsk Region.
