ETHNOMIR - Entire World in One Park

To travel around the world, you do not have to go far away from Moscow. Just 90 km away from the capital city of Russia there is the enormous cultural and educational center, ETHNOMIR (meaning Ethnic World), which is at the same time the largest open-air ethnographic museum and an active recreation venue. The cultural museum park takes the overal area of 140 hectares.
The exposition part of ETHNOMIR is a miniature world model in a picturesque park area. A visit here means a most interesting round-the-world trip in just a few hours. Where else can you walk leisurely from Asia to Europe and back so fast? Life of every country is represented here with ethnic yards that display architecture, furniture and traditions of vairous peoples. All that is enriched with relative sculptural compositions.
Do you want to get better acquainted with the culture of a particular country? Address "the tradition keepers" and they will tell you about ancient customs and beliefs of their nation or ethnic group. The curious and inquisitive will find here dozens of excursions and master classes, including those in pottery, bread baking, soap manufacture, wood painting, water painting, etc. daily held here.
For complete immersion come and stay in the Ukrainian hut, the Khakass yurta, the Nepalese house or in any of the ten cozy ethnohotels. Each of them conveys the atmosphere, taste and color of a particular country, and is equipped with all modern conveniences. If you are an ardent camper welcome to stay here in your own tent in the special camping area of ETHNOMIR.
Tourist infrastructure is represented with the World Street trade exhibition complex, where souvenirs from many corners of the globe, as well as six cafes with cuisines of various countries are available. Visitors can also cook themselves, using specially equipped fire places near the local fir forest. Everything required for a picnic, including firewood, coal, skewers and what not can be rented in the park itself.
Children's favourite places here include an open-air cage with fluffy blue-eyed huskies, a rope town and a forest labyrinth. In winter time huskies will be happy to take you on a snowsledge ride. In summer time you can rent and ride bicycles, segways and golfcars in the park.
Every day of the year ETHNOMIR celebrates one of the numerous holidays of various countries, therefore you will find here festive atmosphere all the year round. The weekends are usually dedicated to large festivals.
